HENRY COUNTY CVB RECEIVES PAUL BROUN AWARD FOR MARKETING
To appreciate Henry County’s tourism riches, you must first get to know the people behind the attractions. The History Has a Name series explores the paths of individuals who have shaped Henry County into a special place to visit. Through big ideas, hard work and dedication, these individuals are creating history every day, demonstrating that in Henry County, History Has a Name.
Henry County CVB’s History Has a Name campaign has gained state-wide recognition, just recently winning the Paul Broun Award for Marketing at the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference on November, 2, 2017. This prestigious award recognizes the entity that demonstrates an effective and unique marketing initiative. The award is given each year in memory of Senator Paul Broun of Athens, who was a huge supporter of tourism.
Upon conception of the campaign, Henry County CVB realized that there are an abundant amount of tourism attractions and organizations within the community that have rich, untold history. Seeing an opportunity to tell these stories that make the community what it is, they launched the History Has a Name campaign in February 2017 with a mission to highlight tourism business owners and organizations of Henry County who make it such a unique and special place.
“Henry County is rich in the stories of family businesses and volunteer run organizations that are sustained by love, dedication and grit,” said Laura Luker, Director of Tourism for the CVB. “People can sample craft beer, eat pizza or buy peaches at lots of places, but it is the people behind the businesses that make the experiences truly unique.”
Congratulations to Henry County CVB for their well-deserved recognition.
